Invitation: One-year live-in Islamic Studies, Management and Success Training in Davao City PDF Print E-mail

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Dear parents,

Assalamo alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Alhamdulillah, the Wisdom International School for Higher Education Studies (WISHES) has now established a very safe and ambient school compound in Davao City to help meet the right Islamic education, leadership and management training needs of your children. The Wisdom Compound has a fully air–conditioned 3–storey Wisdom Hall building with lecture/social hall, meeting room, accommodation rooms and classrooms; as well as a fully air–conditioned 3–storey Masjid, a cafeteria and a bookshop.

We have done our part! It is your turn to fulfill your obligations to your children. In the end, each one of us will be asked whether we have done our responsibilities to them or not. When we guide them to Islam, they become righteous Muslims whose prayers continue to reach us even when we die, based on the following authentic Ahâdîth:

“A man will be raised some degrees in Paradise and he will say, ‘For what reason I am receiving this?’ He will be told, ‘Because of your (righteous) son (child) asking forgiveness for you.’” (Bukhâri 1613)

Moros urged to reject Filipino label PDF Print E-mail

By luwaran.com (March 31, 2010)

Khaled Musa, deputy chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) committee on information, has urged all Moros to reject the label or nationality identity “Filipino”, saying the Moros have never been Filipinos throughout their lives and history.

“Only subjects of Spain and Catholics at that were classified as Filipinos and clearly both prerequisites are not found in Moros,” he said, adding that in the declaration of independence by Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1898, which is now the official independence day for the Philippines, Mindanao and Sulu was an independent entity.

Aguinaldo called on the Moros particularly the Sultans of Sulu and Maguindanao to come to terms with the revolutionaries in Luzon and Visayas in order to form a federation. But the Moros did not respond to the call for the obvious reason that they were more independent than those of the northern islanders.

Why Egypt and Arabic study? PDF Print E-mail

By Abdul Hannan Faisal Tago

(From his memory “Climbing The Ladder of Success”)

EVEN before the discovery of oil in the Gulf States, acquiring Islamic knowledge and learning Arabic had always been a priority for the Muslim community in the Philippines, especially for those from Mindanao. Their yearning for knowledge in this direction makes sense, since the Gulf States have always remained the top destination for a hundred thousand Filipinos seeking jobs abroad.

A second factor is that Muslims in the Philippines ideologically tend to learn more about their religion, for which knowledge of Arabic is essential. The Sultanate system inherited by their ancestors also encouraged them to study the  Islamic way of life taught and prescribed in the Holy Qur’an, the ultimate   source of guidance both for this world  and the  Hereafter.

It is against this background that Egypt had carved out a niche for itself in the Muslim hearts. It is where civilization flourished for over 3,000 years, longer than many other civilizations in the world history. Egypt also ranked among the most influential Arab states, where you can learn about Islam and yet remain modern and moderate within the Islamic fold.

No change in family visa rules: Official PDF Print E-mail

By SIRAJ WAHAB | ARAB NEWS (19-Mar-2010)

DAMMAM: Government officials have denied recent reports that there have been changes in visa rules for the dependants of expatriate workers.

Reports in the English and Arabic media had claimed that high-earning expatriates working in the Kingdom on low-category work visas would be allowed to bring their families into the country on permanent resident visas.

“Those reports are not true,” said a Dammam isteqdam official who requested anonymity.

“The family visa is very much linked to the profession on your iqama. We have issued and are issuing family visas to only those in white-collar jobs such as engineers, doctors and executives. The financial status of the applicant is only one of the conditions.” According to him, nonprofessionals, such as those who are listed on their  iqamas and work permits as laborers, masons, electricians and so forth, will have their applications for family visas rejected automatically. “The rules are clear-cut. Professionals — yes; nonprofessionals — no,” he said.

By Abdul Hannan Tago | Arab News

RIYADH— Visiting Maranao Commissioner, Elias R. Yusoph from the Commission on Elections (Comelec)  lauded yesterday the vital contribution of the OFWs to the Philippine economy, as he addressed a gathering at the International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR). The event was organized by Imarantaon International.

(From his memory “Climbing The Ladder of Success”)

STUDYING abroad is a dream for any student who seeks good education, besides widening his intellectual horizon. Such a dream is possible in the case of students who hail from a rich family or those who are in positions. But a majority of them are not born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

My financial status in the community in Lanao Del Sur in Mindanao was much worse than those from the other parts of the Philippines. This was because of the prolonged political instability in the region that has impacted not only the economic condition but also the educational standard.

Unlike Lanao Norte, Lanao Del Sur has been identified as one of the ten poorest provinces in the Philippines, with 55 percent of its population in the grip of poverty, according to the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) survey conducted in 2000.
